We're almost half way through #AusReadingMonth.
How are you going with your reading plans so far?
I finished my Australian classic read (Swords and Crowns and Rings) much faster than I thought I would, so I plan to catch up on some of the unfinished Aussie non-fiction lying by my bed, making me feel guilty, before tackling my Christina Stead book, The Salzburg Tales for Lisa's #ChristinaSteadWeek starting on the 14th.
In the meantime, I thought it was time to compile a list of all the unread books by Australian authors, vying for my attention, by my bed, in my cupboard and on my book shelves.
If I can remember how or why each particular book found it's way onto my TBR pile, I'll include it in brackets. Everything else will have been the result of a fortuitious browse through a bookshop!
I figure this list will either scare me out of acquiring any more books -
or inspire me to get reading -
now!

Which one should I read next?
Which one should I read next?
Some great titles! I was going to try to read My Love Must Wait by Ernestine Hill for the AusRead month but won't have time & I didn't want to rush it. I've been wanting to read it for years. Just started Miles Off Course by Gentill - I felt like reading something light and enjoyable & it is. Thanks for organising this. I've really enjoyed participating in this yearly event.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we can read the Ernestine Hill together next AusReadingMonth?
DeleteI only have one Gentill left (plus the e-reader only prequel). I hope she writes quickly :-)
I just added 'Miles Off Course' to the Master List. Will keep Ernestine Hill's book until next year as you suggested. i just might have to start it in October so it gets finished :)
DeleteI just finished a fabulous book by an Australian, Lucy and Linh by Alice Pung. I think it was originally publish in Australia in 2014 under the name Laurinda. I loved it.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't read Laurinda, even though it won several YA awards and I saw Pung speak at this year's Sydney Writer's Festival...and she wrote the Introduction in the classic book I read for #AusReadingMonth!!
DeleteI look forward to reading your review :-)
Great reference list of Aussie books, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for a 'surprise' Aussie book to arrive...
had to order it in Germany! Hope it is here tomorrow!
I just knew you would have a great list of 'Australian non-ficiton!
ReplyDeleteI needed a book for #WorldFromMyArmchair challenge....and I found it here!
Thanks!
Next read should be..." The Bush" by Don Watson !
ReplyDeleteI'm definetly going to read his next book Single Tree.
Great writer!
Just a thought...perhaps you can
ReplyDeleteupdate this post 'My Aussie TBR Pile" in a
new post? Links to reviews you've wrttten on books mentioned in 2016
...and new additions to the TBR! It would be an excellent reference
post for my Aussi reading!
Thanks Nancy - I'll aim to redo this for next year's AusReadingMonth :-D
