There is nothing random or without reason in her books & I love delving into some of her ideas and seeing how she brings them out in each book.

The Unicorn has definitely been my favourite so far.Bronahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11110584237325026052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-8687517752191992362018-08-20T07:59:56.255+10:002018-08-20T07:59:56.255+10:00I'd been keen to read more about Plato & S...I'd been keen to read more about Plato & Simone Weil - do you have any recommendations that might help with my next IM?
My next book is The Nice & Good & i really have all good intentions to read it in SEPT!!Bronahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11110584237325026052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-91304959541891373222018-08-20T07:55:48.999+10:002018-08-20T07:55:48.999+10:00Certainly reading these books in the company of ot...Certainly reading these books in the company of others, esp those others who have read the books before (often several times) & who have a wealth of knowledge about IM's themes, philosophy has helped me get more than the surface read out of these stories.Bronahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11110584237325026052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-48001420219761985922018-08-19T20:03:23.417+10:002018-08-19T20:03:23.417+10:00Should be: "...this was NOT your ordinary fe...Should be: "...this was NOT your ordinary female writer." To even start to understand Under the Net I needed to research the book before reading it.
Strange comparison perhaps, but I felt the same way after reading about
Shirley Jackson: A Rather Haunted Life by Ruth Franklin.
These women writers are in a class of their own, a very cerebral group of writers.
They incorporate more intelligence in their writing rather than fill it up with emotions.
Great review...NancyElinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15021569006682648126noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-52263001015720181742018-08-17T08:10:05.858+10:002018-08-17T08:10:05.858+10:00Hmmm, I'm not sure what I think about Iris Mur...Hmmm, I'm not sure what I think about Iris Murdoch, but I probably need to read more.Kayhttp://whatmeread.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-84618905361815295442018-08-17T02:14:49.452+10:002018-08-17T02:14:49.452+10:00Great review and thank you so much for sharing the...Great review and thank you so much for sharing the images, too! I'm glad you found so much to look into and delve around in. One of the things with Murdoch's oeuvre is that you get similar themes and interests popping up time and time again, one reason people get completist about the novels and do chronological reads. You're seeing this already and I hope you enjoy more of it as you read the others you have. LyzzyBeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16398604923871095647noreply@blogger.com
