I've only just 'discovered' Japanese literature in the past decade. It has been a delightful discovery. I'd love to reread some of my favourite Chinese and Indian stories one day so that I can give them some space and love here too.Bronahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11110584237325026052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-28414686869133121932019-06-03T19:08:46.394+10:002019-06-03T19:08:46.394+10:00I enjoyed your review, Brona, and love your favour...I enjoyed your review, Brona, and love your favourite quote - it was such a great sock-in-the-face to him who thought he could "use" her with no reference to her or her needs. It is a really complex book actually - including those little sociopathic hints we see.

I love Japanese literature, and read quite a lot on the 90s, and early 2000s, but not so much since I started blogging, which is a shame.Whispering Gumshttp://whispersinggums.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-31531711988186372692019-04-07T08:14:59.660+10:002019-04-07T08:14:59.660+10:00This is on my list as well. She appeared at the International Authors Festival last fall and the event was a huge success: hundreds of people waiting for her book, sold-out in the shop there, and the event was sold-out too. (I missed it by just a couple of tickets. That's what I get for relying on spontaneous purchases rather than my usual book-ahead-the-minute-they-announce-the-lineup approach. Also, love the photo. Like you, I love Japanese literature so much, and it is deceptively simple quite often. There are layers and layers below the surface, and it’s all so interesting. This was a great pick. I also loved The Traveling Cat Chronicles if you have not read that yet. Bellezza https://www.blogger.com/profile/18073864187188953633noreply@blogger.com
