I knew it was a tragedy, but I didn't realize how frustrated and sad it could make me. Isn't that the mark of a good book -- the ability to evoke a strong reaction in the reader? Also, those are some super interesting facts about Hardy! looloolooweezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04100008049805674675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-73139684548160973782013-07-15T15:21:36.506+10:002013-07-15T15:21:36.506+10:00Everything you said is so accurate. The whole book was frustrating but it was beautiful and aching. I didn't know any of those things about Hardy, they are really interesting! Great post! The only Hardy novel I have read was Return of the Native, which I almost never returned to because I found his language too poetic at first; but I did eventually finish it, and I am glad I did. It did not invoke the kind of emotions that Tess seems to. Maybe you may like that one better if you ever read another Hardy.Ruth @ with freedom and bookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15531827758868215023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-83581206148176315572013-07-01T11:30:52.924+10:002013-07-01T11:30:52.924+10:00I have not yet read Thomas Hardy, but since I star...I have not yet read Thomas Hardy, but since I started blogging I've moved him up on my "to read" list. I don't think I'll start with this one, though.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.com
