I really enjoyed reading the Ladies and am so glad I managed to join in!LyzzyBeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16398604923871095647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-56956141915008184762017-12-05T09:22:22.761+11:002017-12-05T09:22:22.761+11:00I'll send out an emergency call to Nancy to se...I'll send out an emergency call to Nancy to see if she can help!!
I confess that my first (& only) Astley was Descant for Gossips and I only kept going with it because it was about teaching and I was a teacher at the time. I struggled to like any of the characters or engage properly with the writing style. But Nancy has read Astley's bio and has been reading her way through all the books with added insights and lots of love.

One thing I have wondered about is that most Australian writers embed their stories firmly in the setting. As an Aussie I love how strong their sense of place is - I can smell it, hear it, see it, feel the weather conditions etc, but this must be harder for people overseas to picture.Bronahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11110584237325026052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-63587153687752362452017-12-02T13:24:28.587+11:002017-12-02T13:24:28.587+11:00I know it's been a hard month.

I'm not sure I will finish.Jeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14247515387599954817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-28303505304709347632017-12-01T08:43:55.015+11:002017-12-01T08:43:55.015+11:00Save some of them for next November :-)Save some of them for next November :-)Bronahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11110584237325026052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-73156648995819260432017-12-01T05:05:23.904+11:002017-12-01T05:05:23.904+11:00Sorry for what you went through this month & y...Sorry for what you went through this month & your loss. Somehow I didn't manage to squeeze in an Aussie book this month but earlier in the year I read Jane Harper's The Dry, which was a slow good burn of a murder mystery. my review is at http://www.thecuecard.com/books/the-dry-and-benediction/. I hope to read more Aussie books in 2018. thecuecardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08870323589682197091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-89810766853992202092017-11-30T20:16:20.935+11:002017-11-30T20:16:20.935+11:00NancyElin
