I'm not likely to read them all at once, though - more likely to just pick through them over time. I did, however, just read Willem De Kooning's Paintbrush as it is on 3 of our lists this year (the other being the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize). So, really, it wouldn't be a big stretch to finish off the GG list as well as the Giller this year!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01148858271711006048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-86671440812210052182016-10-12T08:38:20.043+11:002016-10-12T08:38:20.043+11:00Do you also read your GG shortlisted books? The other books on the list looked rather intriguing too.

The book I read after DNSWHN also featured a composer - Amsterdam - with the author giving quite a few lovely descriptions of the creative process and the interpretation of pieces. I preferred those in DNSWHN as I wasn't always sure if the ones in Amsterdam weren't actually said tongue-in-cheek!

I told my bookshop colleagues yesterday that DNSWHN is now officially my favourite book of 2016.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did :-)Bronahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11110584237325026052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-40462611412796996002016-10-12T02:02:25.603+11:002016-10-12T02:02:25.603+11:00Great review, Brona! But, in a way, I'm happy to leave it until the end so that I can take my time reading it. Your review has me anxious to get to it! I love that you shared some of the information you googled. The Glen Gould thing is a funny coincidence - another book I just read (The Hidden Keys by Andre Alexis) also features his music in one part of the book.
(Naomi from consumedbyink.ca)Naomihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05278247705596269971noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1483877654474162845.post-77921587132983609862016-10-11T19:39:03.966+11:002016-10-11T19:39:03.966+11:00That makes me so happy! But it turned out wonderful and I who had been dithering on to read or not to read this novel, am off to get a copy!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
