State by State

State by State is a rather ambitious attempt by me to list books that highlight or feature certain states of Australia.

I imagine that most of these books will be by Australian writers, but I'm happy to add books by international authors where appropriate.

In keeping with my blog, I will also attempt to list picture books, teen books & non-fiction titles as well as adult books.

I would be delighted to hear about your favourite books that have been set in one particular state or region of Australia.

Please leave a note or review link in the comments below saying which state, city or region your book is set in and any information you might like to share about the author.

State by State may eventually become a reading challenge, but after losing a couple of draft posts lately, I am reluctant to let this sit any longer without publishing.

Blogger is testing the maxim 'publish or perish'!

So let's start at the very beginning...a list of Australian books & authors already reviewed by me with their state &/or region in brackets.

    1. Thanks Vicki.
I hope you can help me with some titles & authors.

I'm still unsure how I'm going to set it up & make it work.
I've been sitting on it for a year now...but sometimes you just have to start and see where happens next :-)

Books from Australia...love to browse in this selection of books. Admirable job reading and posting. Did an Australian ever win the Nobel Prize for Literature?

    1. Yes, Patrick White in 1973.

  3. Golden Boys is set in Victoria, though it's never explicitly stated, Hartnett admits it is set where she grew up. On Goodreads we have a list of books set in Sydney listed here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/935169-novels-that-take-place-in-sydney
I would suggest adding NT: The Build Up by Philip Gwynne; Gunshot Road and Diamond Dove by Andrew Hyland I. WA: The Light Between the oceans by ML Steadman I VIC: The Fine Colour of Rust by Paddy O'Reilly I TAS: The Brotherhood and The Betrayal by YA Erskine, QLD: The Boundary by Nicole Watson :)
