My Australian TBR - Vote Now!

Photo by Glenn Carstens-Peters on Unsplash
What do you do when you're behind in your blogging schedule?
You make up a new list, of course!

A new list that sucks hours of your time and does nothing to help you finish any of the other posts in draft, but leaves you feeling weirdly satisfied.

A new list, inspired by N@ncy, to help international readers find Australian books.

A new list, that highlights just how severe my TBR issue really is.

A new list that you can help me reduce.

In the comments below suggest 3-5 books (or more if you have a lot of opinions) from this list that I REALLY should read sooner rather than later.

I will compile the numbers by the end of December.
I will then solemnly vow and promise to read the top FIVE books in 2020.

Below are the physical books and ebooks currently in my house or on my ipad. Some are new and some have been languishing for years. Help me decide which ones to read next?

Vote early and vote often!

  1. Just sat down with my coffee...still one eye blurry and cannot read very much or tolerate bright light. Your TBR list is just what the 'eye-doctor' ordered! I can start my own Aussie reading list 2020!

  2. List:
Axiomatic - all about death & grief & loss is right up your literature alley
The Art of Time Travel - T. Griffths - introduced me to many Australian historians
The Unknown Judith Wright - read about this poet in 'Nine Lives" and want to know more about her
True Stories - I did not want this book to end.... that good!
Dancing With Strangers - blind date book for me but it is a 'classic' Australian non-fiction

  3. Yikes! The only one from this list I've read is Picture of Dorian Gray, which I read last year for RIP--I'd read it in high school. Quite fun actually. Only Oscar Wilde could mix hilarious one-liners with murder and drug addiction & get away with it.

There are, however, a lot of books on this list I'm looking forward to your thoughts on!

    1. Oooops! And that was an error entrant! My editing eye missed the lone UK writer sneaking into the list :-)

  4. I suppose I can't say "all of them". Please read Tennant's The Battlers for Gen 3 week.
Read Terra Nullius before The Old Lie.
Read Eliz MacArthur by Michelle Scott Tucker because she's a really nice person and it's a great book
Read The Swan Book because it's the best, most literary book written by an Australian this century.
Read one of the C19th ones. I've read a few of them, An Australian Girl is my favourite.

  5. Wow! I've only read one book on your list. Bridge of Clay, and I did enjoy it. It seems my own Aussie author reading is very lacking.
