Sunday Sentence: Tess of the D'Urbervilles

David @ The Quivering Pen hosts Sunday Sentence.

Simply put, the best sentence(s) I've read this past week, presented out of context and without commentary.

"And you seem to see numbers of tomorrows just all in a line, the first of them the biggest and clearest, the others getting smaller and smaller as they stand farther away; but they all seem very fierce and cruel and as if they said, "I'm coming! Beware of me! Beware of me!" "

Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy

  1. Beautiful! I made some progress in Tess over the weekend. Have past page 200 and like it much more than I thought I would. I'm mostly listening to the audiobook now.
