Another month; another readalong.

I've been trying to read Zola's Germinal for nearly 2 years now. The problem is not the book. It's the format.

My only copy of Germinal (until this week) was on my epad. And it turns out I hate reading books on my epad! I love paper books too much.

I was delighted to see that Fanda is once again hosting Zoladdiction during April (Zola's birth month)...and better still...that there will be a Germinal readalong within that.

My paper edition is translated by Raymond MacKenzie.

I chose this edition after checking out the various translations options at this site - Compare Literary Translations.

I hope you can join us.

  1. Enjoy! Wish I could squeeze Germinal in this month...

  2. I have been trying to read Germinal for soooo long! This might be the perfect time to finally pick it up.

  3. I'm joining - love this book! :)

  4. Not joining in the read-along (I'm obsessed with Trollope at the moment) but good luck -- I loved Germinal! I read the Tancock translation in Penguin classics. It's just a brilliant novel. Germinal turned me into a huge Zola fan.

I love hearing from you but I understand that blogger commenting can be a frustrating experience for many.

Make sure you're logged into your account before writing your comment, otherwise blogger will eat it. I have occasionally found lost comments by hitting the back arrow button.

A recent discussion with blogger admin revealed that the ability to post comments "is sensitive to both cookie and script filters. Your readers may need to enable (stop filtering) 'third party cookies', in their browser and on their computer. And, have them check their script filters, too. Third party cookies filtering, in a browser setting, is the most common solution. Filters are subject to update, by the creator. If the problem started a few days ago, your readers may have to look on their computers, and find out what product or accessory was updated, a few days ago."
I hope this helps. Using a different browser for a while was another suggestion.

Thanks to another increase in spam comments I have now added word verification on ALL posts.
